Villa-S

What if your hobby of collecting miniature cars has literally grown into a collection of 1: 1 scale cars? Then why shouldn’t your house function as a showroom for your cars?

The starting point for the design concept for this villa is to integrate the client’s car collection with their lifestyle, which in turn had to be reflected in their home.

While approaching the villa by car, which at first looks like a closed monolithic volume, the villa opens when the garage door is raised. The glass rear facade of the garage provides a view directly to the living room.

From the open loft-like living room you have a view of the cars in the garage and also the old-timer car in the kitchen. The living room has been raised to allow good sight lines to the cars on the other side of the water, which separates the main volume from the garage. The old-timer car shown next to the kitchen stands on a revolving disc. The rotating car in the 2-storey “display cabinet” can be viewed from any angle with telescopic view from the living room and bedroom or bathroom upstairs.

This different approach to the relationship between people and their cars puts the way of living in a whole new context.
